Notice of Races
The Chebeague Island Yacht Club 2026 racing season will consist of three
events:
Picnic Race from Bates Island - Saturday July 18 1:30 PM
Round Island Race - Saturday July 25 1:00 PM first warning
Ocean Race - Saturday August 15 1:00 PM first warning
Please indicate your intention to race by
registering using the links for each race below.
If conditions on the day of the race call for a postponement, the race date
will be the next day will, except for the Round Island Race(RIR). If
conditions warrant a postponement or cancellation prior to the starting time,
the decision will be posted on the CIYC website at least two(2) hours prior
to the starting time; for the Picnic Race such early notice will be no later
than 9:30 AM.
The races will be governed by the 2025-2028 Racing Rules of Sailing

All vessels are required to carry and have turned on a VHF radio tuned to
channel 72 for communication purposes from the Race Committee boat.
It is highly recommended that all participants wear appropriate PFD
equipment.
Please consult the Sailing Instructions for each race for details on starting
procedures and course details.
Both experienced and beginning sailors are encouraged to participate in our races. It's a great way to spend time on the water, learn, and get to know others who love sailing.
